The newly renovated Co-operative Centre for Excellence is located in the heart of Ballarat’s CBD, amongst Federation University’s historical SMB campus. The centre features state-of-the-art audio visual and communication technology in flexible and modern spaces, making it the ideal venue for business meetings, functions or community events.

Originating in 1870, and formerly known as the School of Mines Ballarat, the SMB precinct encompasses the modern Ballarat Tech School, Flecknoe Building, Prospects Restaurant, Old Gaol and Technology Park.

The centre offers a range of classrooms with flexible seating options in addition to breakout spaces, design thinking room, boardroom, focus group and observation rooms, recording pod’s and meeting rooms over three levels. All rooms feature state of the art technology that allows remote and in person participants to have an inclusive and immersive experience, with onsite tech support available.

The in room technology includes:

  • Multiple sound tracking cameras
  • Multiple displays for presentations remote participants
  • Excellent audio capabilities
  • Digital interactive displays (Samsung Flip)
  • Secondary touch screen display for the presenter

Catering options are available, with our dedicated hospitality team working with you to design a tailored and flexible package to suit your requirements. The newly renovated Prospects Restaurant is now also available for banquet lunch, dinner and cocktail functions.
