Circular Economy Precinct anchored by a Materials Recovery Facility

Development of a Circular Economy Precinct at the Ballarat West Employment Zone will attract circular businesses wanting to co-locate. To date investment proposals worth more than $270 million, creating up to 80 jobs, are already on the table.

The Materials Recovery Facility, a specialised and scalable recycling plant will receive and sort mixed recyclables – including paper, cardboard, metals, glass and plastics – from much of Western Victoria, supplying materials for local recycling manufacturers and ensuring they don’t end up in landfill.

Delivery of this project is the next step in City of Ballarat’s drive to become carbon neutral. The project will foster sustainability, innovation and investment and help the region take a giant step toward maximising the reuse and inherent value of recyclable materials.
